For generations, Ela Orchard has been a popular place for a family excursion to buy some apples, cider, and experience the farm. In January 2021 a devastating fire resulted in the loss of their historic apple barn; a structure that housed several critical components to their operation.
At the time of the fire, PSG was working with members of the Ela family on a separate project. We were honored when the family approached us to also facilitate the rebuilding of the apple barn.
PSG served as the Design Build Contractor for the project. The project was carefully planned to meet the budget and address significant material lead times that threatened the project timeline. A design was developed to conserve the massive stone foundations that withstood the fire and reflect the aesthetic of the original barn while providing functional updates. In September 2022, the apple barn re-opened to the community, ready to serve future generations to come.
